The second international festival “Poltava dumpling” June 8-9, 2019

On June 8-9, 2019, the international festival “Poltava Galushka” will be held in the city of Poltava on the territory of Ivanova Gora (White Arbor, Holy Assumption Cathedral) – a holiday that unites the gastronomic tastes of Poltava residents and owners of the Galushka surname.

June 8 – starting at 12:00 p.m., June 9 – 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., st. Soborny Maidan, 1.

The real brand of the Poltava region is the authentic dish “Poltava dumpling”, which is a gastronomic symbol of the city and a characteristic feature of the national cuisine.

The purpose of the festival is to popularize gastronomic tourism of Poltava Oblast through unique authentic cuisine combined with the history, culture and traditions of the region.

The slogan of the holiday is “Halushki of all countries, let’s unite”, since Halushki from different parts of the world have confirmed their participation in the festival: Finland, Canada, Germany, Bulgaria, Belarus, Italy, Kazakhstan and other countries.

The program of the holiday includes not only tasting and being treated to a brand dish of the Poltava Region, but also the gathering in one place and at the same time of the guests of the holiday, who bear the surname Halushka, who will receive original congratulations and treats.

Traditionally, the oath of allegiance to the Galushka and the presentation of credentials to all guests with the surname Galushka will take place. In addition, the magical power of Ivanova Mountain will help to realize the idea of ​​the organizers to create the largest choir of Galushkars and to perform together the song “Oi galushechki, galushki”.

The festival team promises a rich concert program and a gala concert of the folk dance festival.

Relatives from near and far will come to visit Poltava galushka: Georgian khinkali, Uzbek mantis, Chinese jiaozi.

The highlight of the holiday will be the reconstruction of the “Halushka wedding”, in which a young couple in love with the surname Galushko will get married. The action will take place on the territory of the Museum-Manor of Ivan Kotlyarevsky, where, as in the famous Aeneid, treats are planned with all kinds of food, but the main dish is “wedding galushka”. The organizers do not reveal all the secrets, but it is known that the wedding locomotive will dance with the guests of the festival, boyars, girlfriends and lights.

Ivan Kotlyarevsky himself, the first classic, the founder of the new Ukrainian literature, who used the living Ukrainian language in his works, will bless all the guests who will gather on Ivanova Gora on this day.

This year, the festival added another interesting location – an open-air theater.

Residents of Poltava and guests of the holiday will be able not only to purchase a branded dish, but also to take part in a master class by Stepan Galushka, well-known in the city (Komora is the first galushka manufacturer).

Various locations will be used on the territory of Ivanova Gora:

● sale of dumplings from restaurateurs of the city;

● treats from craft producers;

● concert program with contests and entertainment on the main stage;

● action on the territory of the I. P. Kotlyarevsky Manor Museum;

● valley of masters;

● a tea ceremony from Halushka’s Chinese relatives;

● halushki kinship – “Geantsvale and Khinkali”;

● a treat with a mysterious dish from the Giant Cauldron;

● in the “Valley of brawlers” they offer ancient entertainment for small Ukrainians (from a goat to a podolyanochka).

The initiator of the festival is the Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine Semenyaga Larisa Borysivna (née Galushka), who gathered around her a team of Poltava women who have the energy for quality changes in the cultural and tourist environment of the city.

Last year, the festival showed that Poltava needed an event of this level and scale, since the festival is a powerful driver of the development of the tourism industry, in which many players are involved, including the hotel and restaurant business, carriers, manufacturers of souvenir products, rental and others.

The project team of the festival – the public organization “Synergy of Active Citizens” – unites creative energy for the development of the city of Poltava and calls on the community to join the magic of creating the festival so that Poltava takes a worthy place on the tourist map of Ukraine.
