A round table on improving training programs for workers and specialists in the field of rural green tourism was held

On February 14, 2018, in Kyiv, on the basis of the Institute for Modernization of Education Content of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Union for the Promotion of Rural Green Tourism in Ukraine held a round table on improving training programs for workers and specialists in the field of rural green tourism. The event was held within the framework of the project “Rural Green Tourism – from Disconnected Homesteads to Territorial Clusters”, with the support of the project “Agricultural and Rural Development Support Program”, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The roundtable was held to further improve the professional system of training and retraining of workers and specialists in the field of rural green tourism.

Representatives of leading educational and research institutions involved in the development of or experienced in teaching courses on the organization of rural green tourism were invited to participate.

At the round table, reports on educational and methodological support and practice of teaching the discipline “Rural Tourism” in educational institutions of Ukraine, experience of educational support and training of specialists in rural tourism in agricultural colleges, participation of agricultural educational institutions in the development of rural tourism were made by Zinko Y. V., senior lecturer of the Department of Tourism of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, member of the Board of the Union of NWT of Ukraine; Petrynets V. Y., deputy director of Stryi Agricultural College, Ishchenko T. D., professor

A total of 21 participants from Kyiv, Poltava and Lviv regions took part in the roundtable.

The roundtable held a fruitful discussion of the problems and prospects of educational training of workers and specialists in rural tourism, which resulted in recommendations for improving the professional system of training and retraining of workers and specialists in the field of rural green tourism and submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for further cooperation between the NWT Union and the Ministry in the issue of educational support for the development of rural tourism.
