We continue fruitful cooperation with the Department of Tourism and Hotel-Restaurant Business, Khmelnytskyi National University of KHNU. Professor Ihor Zhurba with his teachers and students, Traveler’s House, manor house on Bakota, p. Gorayvka and the NGO “Association for the Development of Rural Green Tourism in Ukraine” organized a theoretical and practical event, in the framework of which they held a public consultation within the framework of the “Parliament for the Village” project, and also visited the Starousytskyi community and Bakota and conducted a practical session on the functioning of a rural estate using the example of the “Traveler’s House” estate.
A few words about the “Parliament for the Village” project. The purpose of this project is to ensure interaction between government officials and the population, which is an actual or potential provider of rural green tourism and rural hospitality services. The project aims to create a high-quality normative document supporting activities in the field of rural tourism based on surveys and public consultations.
Representatives of the Khmilnytskyi territorial community, owners of agro-tourism estates, and active villagers took part in the discussion of the development of rural communities.
The “Parliament for the Village” project extends to Vinnytsia and Khmelnytskyi regions and aims to create a separate regulatory document in the field of rural tourism. It is important to do this before 2024, when changes to the Law on Tourism will come into effect.
In addition, a survey was conducted as part of the consultation, where everyone chose the best option for themselves. The results of the survey showed that the biggest problem for the development of tourism in villages is the lack of funds.
Everyone could give their own answers to the following questions:
1. What support from the state is necessary for more successful development of rural tourism in Ukraine?
2. Can rural tourism develop in “urban areas”?
3. Which term is better to use in the legal field: “rural tourism” or “rural hospitality”? Other.
4. Is a separate law on NWT necessary? 5. Are similar measures – public consultations – required for legislative decision-making?
We have planned several more interesting activities for the future. Theory + practice is the key to quality education!
