All-Ukrainian competition “Incredible villages of Ukraine 2019”

In Ukraine, the best business plans for the development of rural areas were chosen.

Online voting for the IV All-Ukrainian competition “Incredible Villages of Ukraine 2019” ended on July 18, 2019.

As part of online voting, everyone could cast their vote for one or more villages. As a result, 11 best business plans for the development of rural areas were determined.

The villages that took the 10th and 11th positions according to the voting results received the same number of points – 2.4 thousand votes each. Therefore, 11 villages entered the semi-finals.

The semi-finalists were:

1. p. Skotareve – arrangement of a coastal recreation area around a pond in the center of the village – 15,000 online votes;

2. p. Holovkivka – purchase and installation of a gazebo, park benches and urns – 12.2 thousand online votes;

3. p. Vizyrka – creation of a gallery of umbrellas on the central square of the village – 6.4 thousand online votes;

4. p. Skrypai – arrangement of two sites for collecting and sorting solid waste – 5.1 thousand online votes;

5. p. Bilche-Zolote – major renovation of the hotel premises – 4.8 thousand online votes;

6. p. Vytvytsia – purchase of technical equipment for the village cultural center – 3.3 thousand online votes;

7. p. Lisovi Sorochyntsi – arrangement of street lighting with the help of lanterns on solar batteries – 3 thousand online votes;

8. p. Zaliznyak – purchase of equipment for the local chicory cafe-library with agrarian and environmental literature – 2.9 thousand online votes;

9. p. Shchaslyvtseve – creation of an accessible beach for wheelchair users and other groups with reduced mobility – 2.7 thousand online votes;

10. p. Gilcha Druga – development of the Ethnographic Museum-Estate “Gulcha” – 2.4 thousand online votes;

11. p. Lysets – arrangement of an observation deck and houses for trade in locally produced products – 2.4 thousand online votes.

After that, until July 31, the members of the Expert Council of the competition will select 5 semi-finalists from 11 villages, who will go to the third stage of the competition – the final. Each member of the Expert Council will evaluate the contestants’ business plans on a 100-point scale.

Composition of the Expert Council:

1. Olga Trofimtseva, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine;

2. Oleksandr Pochkun, general director of Baker Tilly Ukraine LLC;

3. Alex Lissitsa, president of the association “Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business”, general director of IMC;

4. Karolin Spaans, adviser on agriculture at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine;

5. Volodymyr Vasiliev, Chairman of the Board of the NGO “Association for Promotion of Rural Green Tourism Development in Ukraine”;

6. Anatoly Tsyrkun, general director of the UCABevent agency, head of the UCABtravel agency and the educational project “Agrokebety”;

7. Olga Sydorenko, director of Agroexpert magazine;

8. Mykola Nepomyachy, head of the administrative department of the All-Ukrainian Association of Village and Settlement Councils;

9. Ihor Abramiuk, independent expert on regional and local development;

10. Alla Stryzheus, head of the AgroPortal.ua project. 

And from August 1 to 30, there will be an “Incredible Village Auto Race” through 5 finalist villages, during which AgroPortal.ua journalists will visit each of the communities, in order to see the incredibleness of the village and help prepare to defend their business project before the members Expert Council in the fall of this year.

For reference: The All-Ukrainian competition “Incredible villages of Ukraine 2019” is being held for the fourth time by the agrarian online publication AgroPortal.ua. Over four years, 690 villages from all over Ukraine took part in it.
