The reserve was created in 1984 to protect the unique natural complexes “Roztochchya” – a strip of hilly terrain that separates Prykarpattia from Podillia. Here you can see different landscapes: from forest and forest-steppe to wet meadows. The reserve is famous for its flora and fauna, among which there are many rare and endemic species. For example, Roztochan orchid, Roztochan crocus, Roztochan cornflower grow here, and Roztochan woodpecker, Roztochan falcon, Roztochan hare, Roztochan fox and others live here.
